After graduating from Sydney University in 1991 I have had the experience of working both with in the Public and Private Health Sector. I have worked across a variety of areas both within the hospital system and private practice sector both within Australia and overseas. I have always had an active interest in rehabilitation and worked within large Sports clinics. In 1994 -1995 I was lucky enough to work within the USA where I was able to work within the Private Sports Practice and outpatient clinics in Michigan. On returning to Australia I was able to head up the Nepean Private Hospital Physiotherapy department that included treating inpatient orthopaedics, surgical, pre and postnatal clients as well as general surgical patients. time basis while enjoying the support of a wonderful work environment /culture. This involved close liaison with Specialists and the development of protocols for pre and post surgical patients over the 5 years.
During this time I set up and ran the inpatient and outpatient Hydrotherapy programme with a purpose built rehabilitation pool. We provided sports physiotherapy coverage for local sporting events including netball, cricket, rowing, football and tennis. After returning from London with 2 small children I relocated to Melbourne in 2004 where I returned to part time work with a continuation of further study into Pilates after being exposed to it in the UK. This new course of study saw me complete Levels 1-4 at Dance Medicine Australia and then a few years later commencing the Polestar Rehabilitation Course through Dynamic Stability Richmond. Melbourne is now home and I have been involved in further education within the Pilates field and attend regular sporting and rehabilitation in-services and courses with an active interest in helping my clients move well and work towards shared goals of flexibility and pain free movement. The recent role at Dynamic Stability will further enhance my love of Pilates.
