Ashlee is a professional dance artist who began practicing Pilates while studying her physically demanding Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) in 2009. Since graduating Ashlee has worked as a dance performer, improviser, choreographer and teacher across Australia and New Zealand, and was also awarded an ArtStart grant from the Australia Council for the Arts, which allowed her to travel across Europe to expand her practice. Ashlee has found Pilates to be an invaluable part of her ongoing training to support her fitness and wellbeing throughout her career.
As she has enjoyed teaching dance and tumbling to all ages for many years, Ashlee decided to combine her love of Pilates and teaching movement by becoming a Polestar Pilates instructor. She is especially interested in how the body learns movement and loves to help people find more efficient ways to move and avoid injury during day-to-day, sports, and recreational activities. She believes Pilates is a fantastic method to achieve this as it is so versatile and can be modified to suit anybody and their goals. Ashlee has experience teaching in a variety of settings and is currently teaching Pilates to athletes from Hawthorn Triathlon Club and Old Xaverians Athletics club and secondary students at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School, where she is also a dance instructor and choreographer. She is currently training to become a Polestar Mentor and assist students completing the Certificate IV course.
Ashlee is local to the Ripponlea area and loves living in Melbourne, looking after her pot plants, making jewellery, playing board games and working towards a zero waste lifestyle. She has been part of the reception team at Dynamic since 2013 and is very excited to get out from behind the desk and into the studio!
