Dynamic Stability optimises performance for athletes, recreational runners and young, developing athletes


Athletes these days are becoming increasingly aware of how important core stability is for attaining peak performance.  With the need to run faster, jump higher, move more quickly and reduce the potential for injury, athletes are searching for the highest quality core stability exercises. They have realised what Pilates practitioners have known for years: it is no longer enough to train harder, they must train smarter.

Dynamic Stability can apply all the necessary diagnostic skills to assess the weaknesses in your core and design a program that will catapult your athletic performance to new levels, helping you fulfill your ultimate potential.

Every program at Dynamic Stability is specifically designed for your individual needs. We offer private tuition with physiotherapists who are also fully qualified Pilates instructors. Once a certain level of competence is achieved, clients work in small groups of four, where they will be individually instructed to practise their specific program under the guidance of a therapist. Every client is closely monitored so that their program progresses in intensity to a level appropriate for their personal requirements.

Many core stability programs comprise a bunch of plank holds and Swiss ball exercises, but these don’t address the techniques of correct abdominal recruitment and breathing. They encourage core rigidity rather than the dynamic core stability that is so important in the elite athlete. Oxygen is vital for achieving maximum performance and therefore correct breathing is essential. At Dynamic Stability we can address correct breathing strategies, educate on diaphragmatic breathing and maximise ribcage expansion.

Our physiotherapists can help you diagnose your injury and advise you if further medical investigation is required. They will design a program that will allow you to commence your rehabilitation immediately. Once your injury is starting to improve, we can concentrate on injury prevention to stop the problem returning. Athletes often miss this step and risk a recurrence of the injury when their training load picks up again. By targeting any weaknesses in your body, a Pilates program tailored to your specific needs can really help. Of course it’s not just your core that needs balancing. Pilates is a wholistic discipline that will also focus on strengthening your entire body, but will especially concentrate on gluteal strength, pelvic balance, the quadricep/hamstring ratio, as well as enhancing ankle stability and general balance. Instability or weakness in any of these areas can be the driving force behind repetitive muscle strain.


Our myotherapists are trained in deep tissue massage, acupuncture needling, trigger-point release, general sports massage and exercise prescription for strengthening, as well as being experienced Pilates practitioners. Their role in maximising performance for athletes is essential to staying injury free by releasing contracted muscles that have been overworked in training. Myotherapists can identify the deep trigger points that are staying active and release them before they turn into injuries.
